The Estorick Collection is hosting artist Giulia Ricci for a Research Residency as part of Islington Exhibits. The Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art opened in London in 1998. It is internationally recognised for its core of Futurist works, as well as figurative art and sculpture dating from 1890 to the 1950s. The Collection's home - a Grade II listed Georgian building - contains six galleries, an art library, café and bookshop, and is located on Canonbury Square a few
minutes walk from Highbury Corner.
Giulia Ricci is an artist of Italian descent, based in North Islington. Her practice revolves around patterns and their systems, which she explores through various repetitive processes, primarily drawing on paper. The focus of her investigation is the shift between order and disorder within different systems,
The Residency commenced in May 2010 and will come to fruition with a public outcome in October 2010. Giulia will be giving a talk on her recent practice, and
possible lines of enquiry at the Estorick Collection on Saturday 26 June at 3pm.
