Rosanna Greaves at Claremont
24-27 White Lion Street, London N1 9PD
Claremont is a large and welcoming arts centre on White Lion Street that programmes over 35 creative classes and activities a week for over 550 isolated older people (aged 55 and over). Claremont was the first centre in the UK to offer a range of low cost community-based psychotherapies, arts psychotherapies, and arts-inhealth projects and workshops. They offer people of all ages the possibility of taking part in a whole range of creative projects geared towards personal development, well being and mental health.
In 2010, Claremont hosted sound artist Rosanna Greaves. She worked on a new sound work that explores the varied musical tastes and interests of Claremont's Members: uncovering hidden enthusiasts and exploring the ways in which sounds enrich and transform our lives, from the noise of a dripping tap to the humming of traffic. The finished work was be available to hear in the main corridor at Claremont Project during Islington Exhibits.
